This place was very easy to find, parking directions were visible, and there was ample space. Lighted pathways and well lit signs guided you to the luau with ease. Once checked in we were taken over to an area and had our pictures taken. Then we were showed to our seats. Within in minutes of everyone being seated a prayer was said and we were allowed to eat. There were 5 different buffet lines. All had a different serving and all had its own plates. The food was excellent with entrees such as, raw fish, poi, coconut shrimp, oysters, coconut fish, laulau, just to name a few. Not to mention there was a whole table dedicated to deserts, which were all to die for. Guava cake with haupia, kiwi tarts, chocolate pudding cake, etc.. Every desert I ate was delicious and I tired them all!!!
Drinks were served at the table through out the night. They had a wide variety from straights to mixed drinks. It was heaven. Then the show came on and it was absolutely amazing. It was modern and contemporary but anchored to an old Hawaiian Myth from long ago. It was an excellent show and the lights and sounds were superb.
The staff at the Fairmont Orchid were very caring, nice, talkative, attentitive, and all around you. They were always there when you needed something. They took your dishes away faster then you could come back with a new one. Our drinks were always full and they were constantly asking if you needed something.
I had a great time at this luau. If you had one Luau to attend on the Big Island this would be a great choice. The whole experience was pleasant, there was little wait time between activities, and it was an enjoyable setting to be in.
