Yes, you’ll have to get up early, but once you reach the summit of Mt. Haleakala, the largest dormant volcano on Earth to see the most amazing sunrise, you will agree that it was so much worth it. It is an experience that even famous author Mark Twain in 1886 tried to describe as “…the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed, and I think the memory of it will remain with me always.”
Rising over 10,000 feet from sea level, Haleakala is well-known for its raw beauty and unique moon-like landscapes. In fact, the surroundings look so much like the ones on the moon that even American astronauts are trained here for their lunar landing. The crater itself is an incredible 3,000 feet deep, 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide.

Heading back down, you can enjoy the diverse landscapes of the area and may see the rare silversword plant, which grows only here on Maui and nowhere else in the world. Hotel pick up begins at 2:30 am to 4:30 am depending on your location. Allow 15-20 minutes wait time at pickup.
Return to your Hotel between 10:00am and 10:30am
