Discover Molokini, a tiny island located just off Maui’s south coast. Molokini is actually a crescent-shaped volcanic crater formed by a volcanic cinder cone. It is one of the top ten dive sites in the world! If you’re on Maui, a snorkeling excursion to Molokini is a must-do. The water out here is as clear as glass and you’ll meet a variety of marine life, such as tropical fish, eels, manta rays, turtles and many others. In fact, an amazing 250 species of fish can be seen here, some of which are found nowhere else in the world.
So come aboard the Trilogy, a state-of-the-art catamaran, and sail the 2.5 miles over to this astounding location. Molokini is a protected marine life park; that’s why the marine life is so abundant here (no fishing is allowed). The fish feel safe, and so can you. The water is calm and there’s a reef area featuring excellent viewing up to 150 feet (45 m) down. You’ll depart from Ma‘alaea Harbor. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to a mouthwatering breakfast of homemade, oven-fresh cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and coffee. The sail over to Molokini only takes about an hour. You’ll receive your snorkeling gear and wet suit and can then venture off on your own or take a personalized tour led by an ocean naturalist.
And now comes the best part. Not only will you get to snorkel at Molokini, but at a second location as well! This one will be a surprise. Your captain will choose another great spot based on the day’s conditions. So more time for you to discover and explore Maui’s underwater wonderland.
If you get hungry, no problem. Sodas and snacks are available all day long. And at lunchtime, enjoy a delicious teriyaki BBQ chicken lunch right on board. Got kids? Bring them too. This excursion is ideal for the entire family. The catamaran is equipped with a waterslide, perfect for kids.
There are two tours to choose from. One departs at 6:30 a.m., the other a little later at 8 a.m. Return for the earlier tour is at 1 p.m. and for the later tour at 2 p.m.

Will I get seasick? Seasickness is rare on our catamarans because they are large, stable and ocean-tested. Besides that, the waters in the channel between Maui and Lanai are mostly calm.
Do you have life jackets for children? Yes. We will provide both kids jackets and/or ski belts for on board and in water activity.
Where can I change? All our vessels have changing areas.
Are there restrooms on board? Yes, all our vessels are equipped with two restrooms.
Are vegetarian meals available? We offer garden burgers, stir-fried noodles, tossed salad and seasonal fruits.
Do you serve alcohol? No, but you can bring your own. Just keep in mind that we limit any alcohol consumption until all in-water activity has been completed.
Is there shade on your boats? Yes, all of our boats have either covered cabins or awnings or both.
How many passengers go on your boats? Each boat is U.S. Coast Guard certified for substantially more passengers than we take on our tours. Generally, we take 15-20 couples on our 55 ft. catamarans and 20-25 couples on our 65 ft. catamarans.
What is the snorkeling on Lana‘i like?Hulopoe Beach on Lana‘i has been voted as one of the top ten dive sites in the world. We at Trilogy are the only company with permission to take visitors to this awesome location! Most of the time, the snorkeling here is outstanding. There are just a few days during the summer months when surf from the South Pacific reduces the visibility. But 95% of the time, the snorkeling on Lana‘i is world-class!
How often do you see dolphins?Depending on feeding cycles, dolphins (both spinner and bottlenose) are seen almost daily.
Can I swim with the dolphins?Keep in mind that federal law prohibits harassment of any marine mammal. And swimming with dolphins is considered by some to be harassment. While we don't offer swimming with dolphins, we are happy to say that dolphins have been coming near the place where we snorkel regularly.
