Kailua is a world renowned beach for windsurfing lessons due to the combination of year round warm water, onshore winds and miles of white-sand. Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks has taught thousands of people to windsurf, since the early days of windsurfing, in the 1980’s. We provide wide, stable boards and small, trainer sails to give everyone a chance to get up and sailing on their very first day. Instructors lead small groups and customized private lessons from Kailua Beach Park, just a short walk from our shop Windsurf lessons are offered every day of the year.
Windsurfing Beginner Lesson (2 Hour Lesson and 2 Hour Practice Time)
Learn from scratch the amzing sport of windsurfing in a small group format. Groups are small and everyone gets a chance to sail on his or her own rig. Guests will be taught the fundamentals of windsurfing on land first during the two hour lesson. Learn the basics or sailing, tacking and jibing. Special training boards with light sails are provided , so regardless of size or strength everyone has a great opportunity to learn to windsurf. Includes two hours of instruction plus two additional hours to practice with the gear. No previous sailing or boardsports experience is necessary, just an enthusiasm for some Hawaiian sunshine. Many top windsurfing pros got their start, right here, at Kailua Beach Park and so can you! The Beach Staff is always on hand if additional help in needed during the practice time.
Includes: 2 hour group lesson, beginner windsurf equipment for four hours, certified instructor, secure lockers – 12″ x 12″ x 17″, lunch*, and Transportation from/to Waikiki.
Conditions: 13-16 years old may do a group lesson, but the parent must be present and have signed the release of liability. 16+ can be without parent, but must have release of liability signed. All participants must be able to swim.
Windsurfing Advanced Package – No Lesson (4 Hours of activity time)
Experienced windsurfers can customize their instruction to include beach start, water start, harnessing, getting in the foot straps and planning jibes. All sizes of boards, sails and harnesses will be available, allowing for a quick progression of new skills. Kailua Sailboards & Kayaks is Oahu’s number one provide of Mistral free ride, slalom and free-wave boards. North, the leading manufacturer of sailing products, provides our sails that are pre-rigged in a full range of sizes and made available at the beach. With help from our qualified Beach Staff, customers enjoy a wide variety of new and up to date equipment. Windsurfing in Kailua offers an extremely wide variety of sailing conditions, including calm, slalom conditions on the inside as well as breaking waves on the outside reefs. Accessories such as a harness and PFD’s are provided at no additional charge.

Windsuring Board Rental Only (No lunch nor transportation)
Kailua Sailboards has been renting windsurf gear in Kailua since its foundation in 1982. You will find that we are the only rental shop located near the beach and provide a full range of boards and sails from the top brands, North and Mistral. Half Day rental is 4 hours. Full Day rental is from 9am – 5pm
Beginner Board rental includes: super stable Starboard Rio board with retractable center board and lightweight Aerotech or Hot Sails trainer sail between 2.0 and 3.5 meters, rigged by the beach.
High Performance Board Rental includes: the use of all Free-Style, Free-Ride and Wave boards by Mistral and sails from 4.0m to 7.5m by North, pre rigged and available by the beach.

Choose from pizza, calzone or Hawaiian plate lunch. Pizza and calzones are made to order in the Beach Center at Bob’s Pizzeria. Our plate lunches are made to order at K&K BBQ where guests will find inside and outside seating.
Pizza/Calzones
A variety of handmade, thin crust, Boston style pizzas and calzones are made available including two (2) vegetarian options. Pizza topping and calzones will include a variety of the following fresh ingredients: Pepperoni, sausage, spinach, cheese, garlic, tomato, mushrooms, black olives, onions, broccoli, ham, pineapple. A fountain drink (coke, diet coke, sprite, fruit punch) will also be provided.

From Waikiki take Kapahulu Avenue onto H-1 West.
After 3 miles, take the Pali Highway exit (Highway 61) and proceed to Kailua Town.
In Kailua, turn right after the fire station on Kainalu Drive.
Turn left onto Kailua Road.
Kailua Beach Center is on the left side 1/4 mile down the road.
