Description

Kauai, known as the “Garden Isle”, is the lushest and oldest of the Hawaiian Islands. This green and romantic isle has been the back-drop for countless Hollywood films. The dramatic and rugged interior of the island is uninhabited, and is a landscape of pristine forests, plunging waterfalls, rainbows and verdant valleys. A helicopter tour of Kauai will take you on a tour of Kauai’s dramatic wilderness areas which are only accessible by air.

Departing from the Lihue Airport Helipad you will fly along the Haupu Mountain Range into the Hanapepe Valley to see Manawaipuna Waterfall, commonly known as the “Jurassic Park Waterfall.” Next you will soar over Olokele Canyon and then above Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” You pilot will provide great views of the waterfalls cascading down the steep, red cliffs of this awesome gorge.

Ascending over to Kokee State Park you will soar into the major valleys along the Na Pali Coastline. This is a region of steep sea cliffs and deep ancient valleys surrounded by huge peaks and vertical spires. Many of the razor thin ridges are lined with waterfalls providing stunning views you will never forget. Continuing up the Western coast you will soon be soaring over pristine North Shore beaches including Ke‘e Beach nestled beneath Mt. Makana (Bali Hai). You will also see the bay and lagoon at Makua (Tunnels), Wainiha Bay, and the expansive white sands of Lumahai Beach.

As you approach Hanalei Bay you will see waterfalls lining the north shore mountain ranges of Hihimanu and Namolokama. Moving up Hanalei Valley you will soar over dense tropical rainforests – and of course see more waterfalls. Next you will visit the center of Kauai at the summit crater of Mt. Waialeale, a stunning geological wonder and also the wettest spot on Earth. Finally on your way back to the Lihue Airport you will see 80-foot Wailua Falls which was made famous by its weekly appearance in the TV series Fantasy Island.

Kauai Refuge Eco-Tour Landing Option: The Kauai Wildlife Refuge is located within the Robinson Ranch on property exclusively owned by Keith Robinson who is dedicated to the preservation of native Hawaiian plants endemic to the Islands. This site over looks the Olokele Canyon owned by the Robinson Family and is totally inaccessible to the public otherwise. You will be able to view the vastness of this particular canyon and the wonders of possible rainbows and waterfalls in the distance. The canyon is sometimes called the East Fork of the Waimea Canyon and extends from Waimea to the back west side of Mt. Waialeale Crater. There are no public roads or overlooks by land to view this spectacular site. A number of films were produced at this location including a scene from the movie Jurassic Park. This option adds 40 minutes to the tour.
