Ahaaina Wailea Luau, A Grand Wailea Luau is held oceanfront at the ‘Grand Wailea Resort Hotel’ on Maui. This breathtaking evening starts with the sound of the conch shell, the lighting of the torches, the Imu ceremony, Hawaiian Crafts and games. All the while you are enjoying the spectacular Hawaiian sunset.
The production at the ‘Aha’Aina Luau, in Wailea Maui, takes us back to a time when the mighty seafaring Polynesians discovered this land of Hawaii, thereafter calling themselves Hawaiian. It touches upon the documented voyages of La’amaikahiki and Moikeha who first came to this sacred island we call Maui, specifically this area named Honua’ula.
In ancient Hawaii people would gather and feast for several occasions. This feast was known as a “luau”, also spelled “Lū’au.” whether it was a changing of the seasons, welcoming new royalty or sometimes just to delight in the company of family and friends. This gathering was called an ahaaina and was filled with traditional foods, hula and music. In later years, with the arrival of foreigners, the term ahaaina fell out of use in favor of the word “luau” which references the name of the leaf of the taro or kalo plant which is used in many of the dishes found at an ahaaina. Today you get all this an more, the meal, the entertainment the dances and a grand finale fire knife dance! This is an evening to enjoy.
This luau was known as the Wailea’s finest luau, by Honuaula prior to Dec 2019, and the Wailea Beach Marriott Luau before that.

Head southeast on Honapiilani Hwy (Hwy 30) toward Lahainaluna Rd
Turn right at N Kihei Rd
Continue on Piilani Hwy (Hwy 31)

Turn into the resort and follow the signs to the luau.

Head southeast
Make a slight left at Keolani Pl
Continue on Dairy Rd (Hwy 396)
Turn left at S Puunene Ave and Continue on Mokulele Hwy (Hwy 311)

Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather, the luau may be moved indoors. If the luau is moved indoors, the luau reserves the right to modify the show. There will be no refunds if the luau has been moved indoors. If the show is cancelled, we will do our best to inform all our guests.
