Description

Celebrating more than 20 years in Kona, Island Breeze Luau; “He ‘Ohana Kakou” is fun for locals, visitors, and writers alike. Island Breeze Luau has been rated the best Luau on Big Island since 2000. “He Ohana Kakou” meaning we are family is a luau for everyone to come and join with us as family. Family or Ohana is is very important in Hawaii it means we are all connected like offshoots of the same root. This luau is steeped in a tradition that runs deep in native culture. Hosted on the historical grounds of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, this truly is a ‘feast fit for a king’. In times past, this area was restricted to the indigenous Hawaiian population as it was the grounds for the king’s residence. This area held great historical and religous importance in the Hawaiian culture as an ancient Heiau (or temple), was erected here. This local’s haunt is hallowed ground.

Held at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in Historic Kailua-Kona, this production fully absorbs its namesake into the show. Watch as the Royal Court of King Kamehameha I arrives. His arrival greeted by a Court Conch Herald and a Court Chanter. Follow his procession into the luau grounds to experience a luau that is truly deserving of Hawaii’s Ali’i (or royal) status. he

Come and experience first-hand the luau that is fit for kings and special guests alike! Take part in a hula lesson before dinner with our performers you will see on stage. Style yourself new with a polynesian tattoo for the night. Before dinner begins watch as the Imu, or underground polynesian style oven, is uncovered and the roasted pig is brought out. After dinner enjoy our Polynesian performances from across all Polynesia. As the performers share with you the unique styles of dance, theater and costumes from the Pacific Islands. What happens when you send the men to the kitchen to cook everyday… Well, don’t sneak out early, you won’t want to miss the very unique and world reknowned Samoan Fireknife dancing!
